ABOUT THE TRUST
Papatuanuku Independency Trust provides a service that is personalised for each Resident and Residents are encouraged to have a greater input into the lives they lead, whilst considering each Residents individual needs and abilities. Staff work with Residents, using a person-centred thinking approach, utilising the tools learned to formulate individual personalised plans.
Once a month, Staff have a 1-1 session with each Resident, this enables the Resident to discuss with the Staff member, any issues they may have, their goals for the forthcoming month, months and long-term future.
A monthly Residents meeting is conducted with the Manager – in attendance at this meeting is a board member who, following the meeting, meets with Residents to ask on quality of life and how we can improve on lifestyle, any issues with Staff and Management, and how we can overcome these issues.
Residents also have a nominated representative on the Board of Trustees, who feeds back to the board any issues that have arisen. A couple of Residents have taken a step back from their usual activities within the community due to risk of Covid and the unknown factor of who is vaccinated and who isn’t. At the time of writing this report, these opportunities are being reinstated very slowly, due to the hesitant nature of some of our Residents.
Overall Governance is achieved with a very professional, experienced, and qualified Board of Trustees. Their roles vary from Resident engagements to fundraising, from budgeting to volunteering as a mentor for Residents. Papatuanuku Board of trustees are extremely passionate about the work done within the Trust, and they take a very hands-on approach, without overstepping the boundaries of Governance and Operational roles. Actively engaging with Residents both socially and professionally.
OUR SERVICE
Set in a rural environment, Papatuanuku Independency Trust allows for a relaxed, calm, and peaceful lifestyle, where residents are actively encouraged to take pride in. However, amongst the peace and tranquil surroundings, the trust is a hive of activity. A constant buzz of activities is going on. Residents share numerous responsibilities both in personal housekeeping but also the overall running of the Trust. These activities range from log splitting, animal and property care, to taking ownership for their own individual activities.
